Conveniently located in Chicago’s vibrant Gold Coast neighborhood, PiniPico Brazilian Café opened in May 2020. Along with three generations of his family, Dr. Luciano Dias (also a renowned pediatric orthopedic surgeon) is proud to bring mouthwatering Brazilian baked goods and coffee to Chicago.

It had been his lifelong dream to share his beloved Brazilian culture to Chicago. Dr. Dias’s wife Milena’s Colombian background enriches the Café’s Latin flair. Lou’s son Scott and his wife Candice also support this great initiative.

The name PiniPico is an amalgamation of family nicknames Pini (for Dr. Dias’ son, Scott) and Pico (Dr. Dias’s own childhood nickname).

The coffee shop focuses on Pão de Queijo, a traditional cheese bread, a Brazilian staple akin to bagels for Americans and croissants in France. The pastry is a century-old Brazilian favorite made from cassava root (naturally gluten-free), filled with an array of ingredients ranging from bacon, guava, jalapeno to Nutella!

Step into PiniPico and you are instantly bewitched by a veil of tantalizing aromas: rich coffee, golden pastries, savory beef and chicken, chocolate, and sweet guava jam. Drinks: A robust menu of beverages includes coffee favorites such as lattes, macchiatos, cortados; as well as hot chocolate, chai lattes, matcha, and a rousing selection of hot and iced teas. Colectivo Brazil Canarinho and Dollop Brazil Supremo are Brazilian coffees available by the pound. At PiniPico Brazilian Café, all baked goods are prepared fresh throughout the day.
