Orbert Davis’ newly arranged versions of the Miles Davis’ classic recordings, Kind of Blue and Sketches of Spain lead to a standing ovation April 14, 2011, at Chicago’s beautiful and historic Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University.
We at Chicago Jazz Philharmonic send a heartfelt thank you to all those who attended. We could not do what we do without you! And to those who were unable to join us, we missed you.

“Sketches of Blue” attendees tried their hands at the Quinlan & Fabish Music Company-sponsored trumpet petting zoo! Instrument petting zoos are an integral part of CJP’s Jazz Alive Program. Prior to launching our elementary school jazz bands, this gives our students the opportunity to try every band instrument: clarinet, flute, trombone, alto saxophone, and, of course, trumpet. We have found that some students have a natural talent on an instrument they would not have normally chosen. Plus, it’s just a whole lot of fun to try everything!
