Teaching consultants from the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic work closely with Band Directors and Music Faculty at schools to impart experience, good practices, and program management skills. Both music faculty and classroom teachers are present and oftentimes assist at Jazz Alive sessions to become familiar with teaching methods in arts education and how to integrate the arts into their every day curriculum. Two Professional Development workshops are provided for each school during the year. Professional Development is a key component of the Jazz Alive program so that the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic may eventually leave the school with the necessary tools and knowledge for them to continue their music and band program independent of an outside provider.
