"Music Discovery" (Grade 4)

Using a direct instructional approach that connects every day life to music, this phase uses a 15-session standards-based Curriculum to help students improve perceptive listening, critical thinking and creative participation skills. The program exposes students to other forms of music not present in their every day, such as classical, jazz, and world music, and in doing so, teaches life lessons on tolerance, acceptance, diversity and communication. Students are given an introduction to reading music which will prepare them for the next phase of Jazz Alive.
