"Jazz Band Aids" (Grades 9-12)

Students continue in Jazz Band and are also supplemented with jazz curriculum teaching jazz history and correlations between jazz improvisation and life skills (listening, communication, cooperation, self-esteem). In partnership with the University of Illinois at Chicago, the Chicago Jazz Academy will bring Jazz Alive students from around the city to attend a summer camp to receive instruction through workshops, master classes and clinics while providing opportunities for young musicians to participate in performing groups from quartets and big bands to orchestra.
