Mission: planting the ‘seed’ of interest in preparation for future involvement in music programs

Target Skills: Cognitive/Gross and Fine Motor Skills

Students will be introduced to learning the language of the arts, history and geography during live musical presentations. Performances will be presented by professional musicians, representative of the cultures and musical flavors of the selected themes within the school setting and local venues. - Growing the ‘seed’ of interest

"Arts Discovery" (Grades 3)

Students begin with an activity-based introduction to various genres of music through games, singing, crafts, and drumming. Designed with younger students in mind, this arts-based curriculum focuses on the development and refinement of gross and fine motor skills, spatial and deductive reasoning. Each session is structured so students experience all art forms and how they may connect with concepts in reading and math. There is a theme and a cultural component for each unit to expose students to experiences from all over the world.
