It takes the heroic efforts of many people to keep jazz alive and thriving. On April 30, 2012, in honor of International Jazz Day, the Jazz Journalists Accociation announced Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Artistic Director Orbert Davis as the 2012 Chicago Jazz Hero — named by the members of the Chicago community as an important activist, advocate, altruist, aide and abettor of jazz.
Orbert will be honored as a Jazz Hero at a JJA Jazz Awards Chicago Satellite Party on June 23, 2012, hosted by:

2830 North Milwaukee Avenue, 2nd Floor
7:00pm — 8:30pm. The party is open to all ages and free of charge.
